A lot of people don't realise that a computer repair place can repair a PS3 if it's out of warranty. That's what I'll be doing if my PS3 bites the dust out of warranty. It would be cheaper than getting a new one or sending it in to Sony. You could also check www.craigslist.com for someone selling one close to you.

Damn Lee, sorry to hear that man! Yeah the YLOD is a fixable problem, get a couple of quotes from local repair shops, I hear it's $150-200. Me personally, I'd tough it out until I could afford a Slim, and have the peace of mind of having a new system going forward.
