& YOU WOULD THINK SONY WOULD ATLEAST ADD SPONGE BOB. IM TIRED OF THOSE SAME O"L AVATARS, I GUESS ITS JUST ME

I BELIEVE ON THE 360 YOU CAN ADD ANY AVATAR YOUD LIKE MY COUSIN HAD NARUTO. NOW IM NOT SAYING "GO OUT & BUY A 360 FOR THAT PURPOSE' BECAUSE 360 SUCKS.... somewhat.

From my understanding...Sony's idea behind this, is they are trying to keep it family oriented and are looking out for the kiddies. Everyone will have kids on their friends list and with the ability to have a custom avatar (which I've been wanting for the longest) there's a chance of something obscene or pornographic being displayed. So from the legal aspect...they eliminate any potential occurrences and offer wack avatars.

That's Sony's dilemma, the PS3 is NOT a kids/grandparents system (Wii) and not for geek fanboys (Xbox). All-in-one, total media devices aren't for kids. The avatars we have just look silly on PSN.

But this has been a complaint since day one and we may get something in a firmware in the future.

If anything...they should supply a better, more conventional group of avatars kinda like AOL, or even this message board...something you can choose from as from movies, singers, cartoons etc.
