| Since we couldn't do the "Jay" post, lets make this a bit more general. THE GOATS: Honorable Mention: Busta, Ye, Consequence, Common, Chris, Rae, GZA, Fab, Banks, Bun, Prodigy, TI, Twista, Mos, Kweli. Wayne needs needs another crazy album to convince me. |

| I said to myself when I first saw the list, the non mention of Face alone in the Top 5, didn't even warrant a response.
No brainer as Scarface, a Top 5 true lyricist . All Hip Hop Historians know that...even monthy cited resources such as Source, XXL & Old School "Rap Pages," have covered this.

Em SHOULD be in Honorable Mentions, I was thinking of all this real quick on the fly at work. I kept thinking I knew I forgot someone, that's my bad my dude.

Okay Nasty you must've forgotten your bifocals, Bun is up there and was ALWAYS nicer than C. As far as your beloved Pac, me and your cousin just had another war about that, go read it. Scarface and L are legends and of course nice, but I wouldn't put him up that high on ALMIGHTY'S list. I love Ball & G, but close but no cigar as well.

For the hundreth time Good, I don't worry about what critics say, I form my own personal opinion. If I just threw Face and Pac on my list to be satisfy Rap Pages and XXL, I wouldn't be a man.

Cube's cool, but not up on my list. Snoop was an interesting one, he was raw on Doggystyle and a while after that, but once he went to No Limit he's never been quite the same emcee. Ross like Wayne, needs to show me a bit more, he's NOT on my list either, get you eyes checked Nasty! As far as Thought I'm talking about Black Thought from the Roots, one of the illest most underrated emcees you'll hear. Their catalog should be required listening if you've never heard of them.
Now just because you don't see a dude on my list doesn't mean I'm not a fan or don't listen to or admire dude. It just means he's not someone I keep in constant rotation and whose skills don't totally amaze me. I made about 25 picks altogether, EVERYONE can't make it. I didn't make this post to start contoversy or or to say it's the end all be all, I make it to get all the Hip Hop fans opinions here. Instead we got the Drank Brothers on here talking reckless as usual. Rather than having a collective discussion, they're bashing what TONY listens to versus what THEY listen to. If you disagree, bring it to me respectfully like LT did. Apprently I'm an idiot and they can't post they're own picks because they disagree with me. Y'all may have just killed this post, you should know better being the moderator here Goodell. |

| i will admit... i read ur list wrong... Tip =QTip and Rick = Slick RIck....
HOWEVER,,, ur an IDIOT b/c u left PAC off on ur list... all the others "ur correct" are debateable..... but if dont care if ur a PAC fan or Biggie fan... u gotta have them both on ur list...
Put it to u like this... had i did a list and left BIGGIE off,, what would u have said?????? i respect ur list....... but the omission of PAC.... FAILURE!!!!!!!! |

I hear you Pranc, I put Rae up there and I forgot about Guru and L (DAMN!!). KRS, Meth and MOP are dudes I'm a fan of, but I only have so many spots.
I'm not gonna answer the four elements, lets get Nasty or Good in here, since they're the experts. |

Yall are forgetting how old I am. I didn't answer for a reason. I'm not ancient, though I remember the boom boxes with the 8-track...but keep in mind...Hip Hop is as old as me. The 4 elements to Hip Hop you have to understand, the game has changed since then...music has changed...many artists don't even know, care, or even fully understand them period..though folks are still wrecking (M.C.'g), on the wheels of steel (DJ'g) -That's 1200 Techs too...no B.S. CD/Computer DJ's. The dancing (B-Boy'g) isn't the same..but kinda still around, but as I said the game has changed. And Tagging (Graffiti paitin') isn't prevelant...unless you're in a set or a vandal. Though there all relative in the foundation of "hip hop"...the focus has changed...especially when it changed abroad nationally.
Remember...you're talking to a cat that stayed up late Sat. Nights to catch YO MTV Raps with Fab 5...and chuckled when "older" folks said it was a fad, and wouldn't be around for long. Blow,Marl, GM Flash, Bambaata, DMC, KRS, etc...been there, done that.
