| I write a little, my tag is "Aemez", I never bombed or anything, but I do lil marker throwups in the blackbook. The kids who taught me were Max-One and Amaze. Rather than use Amaze2, I just flipped the spelling. I can tell Pranc is your writer tag, it sounds like one.
I'm almost 29 (damn, SMH) so I'm kinda in the middle of new and oldschool. I also grew up on Yo MTV Raps and Rap City with "The Mayor" Chris Thomas.
SOME stuff is still hot, but it's few and far between. Only the top artists still put out good albums. Everyone else puts out hot singles and BS on the rest of album. Times are just different, now. |

Times are different now b/c it's all industry lead...which thrives off commercialism. Majors took the game to whole nother level. Now most cats that enter the industry....use it as a stepping stone to either A) Get Rich quick...B) Get out the "Hood" or their area...or C) Want to be famous.
Once you're in there, and realize you don't eat unless you..."Sale...Sale...Sale." as Mortimer and Randolph say... then they want a way out, and look at other ways for compensation..a la acting. Less hands in the pot...which means more money in the pocket. Changed the game.

| yeah jay you are right about the reason for ppl getting into music or whatever but if you cant name the 4 elements than you are not hip-hop you are something else. from the criminal minded to the lil wayne last album it has always been about money and getting something better it is the mind state of the artist that makes them hip-hop. i.e. rage against the machine and sublime would both be hip-hop. hip-hop is all about the better meant of yourself, family, and the rest of the people in the culture similar to the MVMT to warhawk. like if warhawk was the whole popluation and the MVMT was the hip-hoppers. but you for the most part you are right the real culture has been forgotten by the masses. their is still a underground MVMT of real HIP-HOP around. |
