| Hmm...it's suppose to be an MMO. I wonder if that's only on specific missions or tasks.

| Yeah...to actually DL what's in the store only takes about 3 to 5 minutes.
Once you "set up" is what takes the longest...it took me like 3.5 hours for all the "assets" of the game to DL.
After a couple of days...these are my imressions.
One word...REMARKABLE.
One of the most anticipated games for me has been DCUO. But over time, I got turned off with all the push backs, delays...and I eventually lost interest esp. when I heard that there was a $14.99 monthly fee. First month is free when you buy the game. I DL'd the Beta just to check it out and see how it was, since the "MMORPG" was totally new to me and to the PS3 system.
MAN .... The opening trailer - setting up the game, got me instantly. The graphics from pics I saw and on youtube do no justice for this game...unless they just have improved them over time, hell it HAS taken years.
After the set up or intro of the game...you immediately go to creating your character. You can base it off a previous DC Character as a template, or you can start from scratch. You have to decide...Hero or Villain. From that point you select who will mentor you through out your career. Followed by selecting your Personality, base Powers, followed by weapontry. Then you begin to work on your character. Very...very...VERY, detailed as in how you create your character. The size distinction and disparity in player sizes is tremendous on this game...Large, Medium, small for men and women. I'll post some pics later when I get home...of my characters. As for costume, anything you can imagine from a character standpoint of what's avail through DC, you have at your disposal. Every piece and detail, you have the ability to control the color. Probably one of the most detailed create a character options I've seen before in a game....right there with Modnation Racers as for detail availability. You'll see alot of Scratch characters, that look like they should be off in a comic book...tons of creative folks out there.
After you create the character and save...it immediately takes you to the first phase of the game...Brainiac's ship, where through a few little missions...you learn the standard movements of the game. By the time you finish this...you'll be a level 3. Once you finish...you warp to the respective lobbies of your world. If you're a Villain..you go to a Villain players lobby, and so forth for Heroes. The first time I was in a players lobby (Hero) it was if I was watching X-Men 3..when they had that Mutant Rally. You see all these other people out there...just like you, with characters, doing any and everthing. Flying, running fast, freezing stuff, blowing stuff up, disappearing, fire, you name it...The graphics again along with the movement and gameplay is phenomenal. It makes sense though...with it being a MMO and having the monthly fee.
In the main lobby you can meet folks, buy and repair gear/weapons etc with credits you've earned through out the game via vendors, check email or just relax. Basically it's like a Modspot on Modnation, or the Central Plaza etc on Home. You also can pick up new assignments from this area from certain "computer" characters w/in the game.
You can move throughout the game via by leaving the actual building...Justice League Police Station for Heroes, and Luther's Club for Villains. OR you can warp to certain areas within the world. The way it's set up...Heroes are on one side of each city/area and the Villains are on the other side. Eventually...boundaries will be crossed, and problems will begin. For both sides you have AI simulated oppositions on your side of the town to do missions, tasks, etc. But you will see some HUMAN (Controlled) characters of the otherside, on your side of town also. Whether it be lost, experimenting, or just running challenges or missions. There's alot of Ganking going on too. In a case like I just mentioned, for me on day 1...exploring Gotham, I crossed the boundary and didnt realize it. You can't really tell at times...it's all one big city, I found my self ganked or jumped by 4 Villains at once. These are players like you. It's common though...same thing happened when one snuck over to the Hero side and me and Red gave this guy a hard time until he just flew off...I eventually caught up to him on the surface and knocked him out. * You don't die, you get knocked out...causing you to have to flee, and respawn elsewhere.
The environment...Spectacular, every building is interactive you can literally leap or fly from building to building. You can swim in city lakes, rivers, beaches. Looking at the city of Gotham...it's what Rockstar SHOULD HAVE done with GTA4. They did their homework on this game. You can fly, run fast, even swim in water. I actually made The H aka The Hulk (They won't let you use Marvel names) and he was RUNNING on water. His movements, powers, appearance...EXACT to the actual character.
I'm DEFINITELY getting this game. After playin this...Starhawk HAS to come with it from a expectation standpoint. I wasn't expecting much out of DCUO and got BLOWN AWAY. For what you can do on this game...it's limitless. I'm expecting and anticipating alot from SH..and I just hope it lives up to those expectations.
The MMO is not for everyone. They require alot of time, though addictive...and it's not for those that love instant gratification. There are NUMEROUS levels to ranking up and building your character, it won't happen overnight...week, months. In most cases Years i.e. WoW, Everquest, and Conan.
So far I've created Da Greater Good (Me...Hero), Grand Shotta (A Jamaican Villain), and The H (aka The Hulk - Hero) I'll post pictures later...too bad once the game drops I'll lose it all, but it won't be a problem re-creating them.
I imagine the Beta will appear on PSN for non plus members next week, or the week after.
*Those of you that do have it and plan on giving it a spin...ther are 3 servers. Try to at least make a Villain on Server 1, a Hero on Server 2, and a Hero on Server 3. Any of the opposits of that puts you at odd ends of the world on there, and we won't be able to play together. You can add a friend through the game, add someone to your grop..and of course form a League which is the Equivalent to a Clan on the game.

I take it you finally got your feet wet today...lol. Yesterday I could hear the frustration from you and Tony. It's tough learning stuff with no direction/manuals etc...but the logistics of the game...phenomenal.

It depends..which server you did your Hero on. Like for the most part...we have Hero's on Server 2 and Server 3. For Server One & 3 we have Villains. Are you could do one of each for each server. I imagine once the game drops, it'll all be inclusive. As for the servers...If you're a Hero, and I'm a Villain in the same server, there's no way we could play "together" based off the way the game is set up...who ever spots the other person of an opposing side, will get attacked. That's from someone outside of us.
i.e. If I'm a Villain, and you're a Hero...and following me, when you get around other "Villains" they are going to attack you b/c you're the enemy regardless. Vice Versa for me. That's why it's best to be the same as who you're playing with.

| The main fixes this game needs so far..which is kinda hard to tell due to it being a beta, and I'm sure they're all aware are:
*Freezing, the excessive Freezing...sounds like it's more/less a server issue. If they haven't even opened it up to "the world", there appears to be an issue with those that are in the game now. With MMO's you're talking about MILLIONS within the game at once.
*Mic Issues - Now that we know in order to utizilze the mics now, you have to be joined within a group and or a League. I don't know how staticky my mic sounded, but I have an idea what it had to have been like. Initially Lee...your mic had this high staticy metal sound. I think Red compliained of mine, doing that the other day. When Gunna turned his on last night...it was TERRIBLLE. So that has to be resolved.
*Warping - I dont know if I'm doing this right or wrong. Seems like when I first played it, I was able to warp at will. Now it appears that it's not working.
*Add Friend, Group, Create A League from Friendlist - Doesn't work accurately. They also have to add PSN Friendlist integration to the game. Adding a friend on DCUO, has nothing to do with who's on your friendslist. Also with the name you go by on DCUO (Created Character) that's what shows...not your PSN name. I like how The League name appears under your name...we just gotta decide if we want "Movement" or "The Movement" ...maybe for the Villain side we can go with "Evil Movement".
Outside of those issues...everything else appears to be good. Just a matter of learning all the maps, areas and game controls. There's still so many maps/areas on the game I haven't even gotten too due to the size of each area.
Has anyone figured out how to use the powers correctly? I saw last night were gunna was able to use his "weapon" along with his "powers" (ICE)...I take it you have to reach a certain rank?
There's TONS of stuff that you can unlock that's not avail in create a character...I saw a guy last night with a Cowboy hat on. I need that.
